Parisian Maïa Aboualiten has “le style”, in both her elegant look and her vocal / songwriting sensibilities. The world came to know her on July 5th when Audible Paint dropped her first single, “Que je me glisse (That I glide)” - in tandem with the official music video, crafted entirely by an all female team based in Paris.
Maïa first appeared on the radar in April of 2019 when Kid Slang debuted their first EP “School Days”. She is the feature on track three of the EP, Foreign Exchange, and delivers a memorizing vocal performance of a one sided phone conversation with a forgotten friend, connecting after years of not talking. Due to the allure of her performance, Foreign Exchange has since gone on to rack up a bunch of plays around the world on Spotify.
For this Paris based interdisciplinary artist: singer-songwriter / photographer / stylist, "Que je me glisse" marks her debut as a songwriter, with an album in the works. With a wide range of influences and production from Chicago producers B Forrest and Anders Nordstrom, this global collaboration effortlessly blends soul, folktronica, indie-pop, with a hint of jazz in Aboualiten's sultry tone to create “le style” unique to Maïa.
